Fox calls Senate bill reward for Mexicans - Critics question the propriety of of some remarks

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The Senate's passage on Thursday of an immigration bill that would allow most illegal immigrants to earn U.S. citizenship was a reward for Mexicans in the United States who have recently pressed for such reforms, Mexican President Vicente Fox said in a speech to California business leaders on Friday.

"They fought for it," Fox said at a breakfast meeting in Sacramento with the California Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "They earned what they got yesterday" in the Senate....
